Why choose Robert Herder knives?

Robert Herder is the perfect brand for you if you're a person who appreciates old-fashioned German craftsmanship. Old-fashioned is not a marketing term for a traditional brand in this case. We have seen the production process at the Robert Herder factory, or rather workshop, with our own eyes. It is incredible how much manual goes into making these knives. Even the rivets that secure the blades in the wooden handles are hammered in by craftsmen.

Of course, the way a product is made does not always prove anything in regards to its quality. However, Robert Herder's knives have proven themselves time and time again. The renowned 'Solinger Dünnschliff' makes the knives incredibly thin. This makes them slice through vegetables and meat like a hot knife through butter.

At the factory, we also saw mill knives being sent in after 100 years of use. Yes you read that right: there are people, families, who have been cutting with the same Robert Herder knife for 100 years!

History of Robert Herder

Back in 1872, Robert Herder was founded in Germany's knife capital: Solingen. Over the centuries, Robert Herder has built a strong reputation with their 'Solinger Dünnschliff'. They use large leather wheels to polish the blades. Real old-fashioned craftsmanship, with machines and materials that are often much older than the people operating them. A defining feature of Robert Herder as a brand is that they have been making some of their knives in the same way for over 100 years. At the same time, they have a number of models and series of modern design, although everything is produced in the same way. Traditional craftsmanship in its purest form.
