The **Naniwa Diamond Pro DR-7508 sharpening stone** has a grit size of 800. It consists of an aluminium plate with a bonded diamond layer on top.


Diamond sharpening stones are ideally suited for sharpening hard steels. You can even sharpen ceramic knives with these sharpening stones. These sharpening stones can be used with or without water. The advantage of adding water is that the sharpening residue is immediately washed away. Another incidental benefit of diamond is that it doesn't need to be sharpened in between uses. In principle, diamond sharpening stones always remain flat.


However, it's important to note that your diamond sharpening stones need to be pre-sharpened before the first use, because in the beginning they sharpen slightly coarser. After about five to ten sharpening sessions, they will reach their ideal functioning.

* 120 to 600: suitable for pre-sharpening blunt knives

* 800 to 1000: suitable for sharpening and maintaining knives that are in good condition

* 2000 to 3000: capable of a result sharper than factory-ready

* 5000 to 10000: suitable for sharpening (polishing) knives until razor-sharp

Formaat is goed om bijna elk formaat mes goed mee aan te zetten.
Dit is de grofste korel diamandsteen, bij K&T,  en geschikt om een redelijk bod mes weer snel in de juiste snijhoek te brengen.
Ik heb ook geprobeerd een echt bot gedeelte van een 'high carbon 420 stainless steel' lemmet in vorm te krijgen, maar daar is deze steen toch te fijn voor (tenzij je 15 minuten plus geen probleem vind om enkele centimeters enkelzijdig aan te schrerpen ;o) 
Doordat je veel druk kunt uitoefenen (hou dan wel een kleine hoek aan die bij de betere staalsoorten toepasbaar is) op deze diamandsteen zonder je zorgen te maken dat hij 'hapt' kun je een redelijk bot mes toch redelijk snel weer in de juiste basis snijhoek brengen. 
Ik hou persoonlijk niet van veel druk uitoefenen omdat dan de hoek minder constant is (kan mijn gebrek aan ervaring zijn, ik slijp niet dagelijks/weekelijks messen).
Ik geef toch deze relatief lage beoordeling vanwegen het feit dat de steen 'kaal'in een doosje komt. 
Geen rubber voetje geen houten houder niks noppes nada. 
Dit staat echter wel op de site en zou ik meer dan normaal vinden voor een steen die ruim over de 100 euro gaat, ik vind dit echt een afknapper.
Over de levensduur kan ik eigenlijk nog niks zeggen.
Ik ga ervan uit dat ik met mijn slijp gebruik, keuken messen een keer in de maand, max, aanzetten en wat hobby messen een keer per jaar scherpen,  hier een leven lang mee doe. 
Ik heb ook de 3000 en 6000 korel diamandstenen om indien gewenst de ultieme snijsnede te kunnen maken. 
De laatste stap, zie ook de 6000 korel review, is meer hobby dan echt nodig te noemen.
Met alleen de 800 kun je al een heel goed resultaat krijgen.
De 3000 korel is al goed genoeg om met een goed mes scheerscherp te krijgen. 
Heb nu enkele keukenmessen (Wunsthof IKON) en de Gerber applegate folder geslepen en snel vlijmscherp gekregen.
Had wel al eerder met een slijpsteen gewerkt maar nog nooit zo fijn gewerkt. 
Met een slijpsteen werken vergt wel enige oefening en handigheid zeker om de laatse stappen, het scheerscherp maken, goed voor elkaar te krijgen over de gehele lengte!
Bij de kleinere/smalle lemetten is het moeilijk de juiste hoek aan te houden ik ben/was dan geneigt een te grote hoek te maken.
Bij een breder maar langer lemmet is de juiste hoek minder moeilijk maar is het dan de kunst om deze constant te houden over de lengte, dit is met name daar waar het lemmet de punt vormt, de kromming,  niet eenvoudig.
