What do the IP ratings mean?

Waterproof torch on batteries
A waterproof torch usually runs on rechargeable lithium-ion cells, think of 16340, 18650 or 21700, rather than standard alkaline batteries. With a waterproof version, pay extra attention to the battery cap: it must seal properly with a rubber ring, otherwise moisture can still leak inside. Some models can be charged directly via USB-C in the housing, while others use a separate charger. Still unsure about the battery type?
