Magnetic charging: torches without a charging port
Looking for a torch that charges magnetically? Then you do not need to fit a plug into a narrow port: you simply click the charging cable onto the torch with a magnet. That also works well when wearing wet, cold or thick gloves. Because there does not need to be a separate flap over a charging port, the housing is often sealed extra well. What exactly is magnetic charging?
With magnetic charging, there is no separate port in the housing of your torch. Instead, you click the end of the charging cable onto a pair of metal contact points with a magnet. No fiddling in the dark, no flap you need to prise open.
That brings another advantage too. A charging port is normally a hole in the housing, covered by a vulnerable rubber flap. With magnetic charging, that hole simply is not there, making the housing often easier to make fully waterproof.
There is, however, a clear disadvantage, and we are honest about that too. The magnetic cable is made for that one model or brand. If you lose it, you cannot just grab any USB cable to charge your torch, as you can with USB-C or micro-USB.
