What the Kizer Hare can do
The spine of the blade is flat and not rounded. That sounds like a detail, but that sharp angle is exactly what scrapes sparks from a fire starter. Kizer includes a fire-starting kit, so you can start practising straight away. Further along the spine are several sections of jimping, so you can place your thumb on the blade for making feather sticks or carving a tarp pin. Control instead of force.
The coating keeps moisture and resin off the steel, which helps on a knife that often gets wet. The handle fills the hand properly and leaves enough room to work with gloves. The knife comes with a kydex sheath that clicks in securely and that you can carry on your belt both horizontally and vertically. Handy if you wear it under a jacket or over the hip belt of a backpack, where a vertical sheath would get in the way.
