It sharpens knifes fine as you would expect but i personally think this is a poor quality stone. It is too soft for my liking and dished quickly within sharpening two blades. The higher grit polishing side is ok but the lower grit cutting side is poor in my opinion. It is not an expensive stone but neither is it a cheap stone. You would be better served paying double and getting a harder stone which will cut just as well but last significantly longer. For the money, I think it should come with a flattening stone as well. You will clearly need one. To date, my only disappointing purchase from knives and tools and there have been a few.
