The **Yoshiharu Y-7 Mitomoto set** is a set of Japanese gouges. These gouges have a longer handle, so you can hold them like a pencil and work really precisely with them. They are typical, traditional Japanese gouges, made for making wood engravings. But they are also suitable for other forms of woodworking.

    ## The blade of the Yoshiharu Y-7
    
    The gouges are made from double-layer steel. This has a layer of very hard carbon steel topped with a layer of slightly softer steel that is less brittle. The result is gouges that are extremely sharp and remain so for a long time. Moreover, they are easy to sharpen as soon as they start to become blunt. The steel isn't stainless, so make sure you always dry the gouges well and store them dry.

    The handle is made from magnolia wood. This wood feels wonderfully soft and provides plenty of grip.

    Yoshiharu produces traditional gouges and wood carving knives. The company is over one hundred years old and was originally founded in Tokyo, Japan. It is a small company with just 45 employees. And part of the production is actually still done by hand. Cool, traditional tools that are absolutely timeless.

Zeer tevreden met deze set .
Voelen goed aan en zijn zeer scherpe. 
Ik gebruik ze in zacht hout ,hard hout nog te proberen. 

Had ik het geweten dan had ik de zet van 10 gekochte maar deze 3 ontbrekende zijn niet los te kopen .
Waren er andere japanese hout snijmessen ik zou zeker nog bij kopen bij knives and tools.

Je les imaginais plus petits pour des travaux très minutieux, une description plus précise aurait permis de mieux renseigner sur les dimensions: diamètre du fût, épaisseur des fers et rayon des gouges.
La description des couteaux était très générale, dommage.
Je pense néanmoins pouvoir en utiliser 2 voire 3.

Deze set voor gedetailleerd houtsnijwerk is zeer compleet en voor veel vormen van houtsnijden geschikt - primair natuurlijk voor (japanse) gravures maar ook voor meer gangbare vormen van houtbewerking is dit een aanrader. Let wel, voor whittling en grof snijwerk is deze set minder geschikt!

De kwaliteit is uitstekend. Je ziet meteen dat deze messen van topkwaliteit zijn en met veel liefde gemaakt worden. Scherp, scherper, scherpst, kaarsrecht en zonder enige speling.

Ik ben minder te spreken over het gevoel van de handvatten, maar dat is spijkers op laag water zoeken. Het blijft een geweldige set. Aanrader!
