With a bit of fine paste on it you’re guaranteed to get a mirror finish and fine edge to your blade, I use my diamond set to fine then drop onto the fine and extra fine standard hones before stropping with paste and the leather hone. I’ve only once as yet used the sapphire hone and prefer the feel of leather and paste to polish
