The **Böker Plus Shovel M1874 shovel** is a sturdy and versatile shovel that is perfectly suited for bushcraft. For example, for splitting kindling, cutting down small trees, creating a path through vegetation, as an aid when climbing a hill, an emergency paddle and so on. Oh, and of course, you can also use it to dig a hole. The solid handle makes this shovel a lot sturdier compared to most folding shovels. 

## Böker Plus Shovel M1874

The Böker Plus M1874 was designed after the original design of the first German field shovel, introduced by imperial decree in 1874 under the designation: Tragbares Schanzzeug für Infanterie- und Jägerbataillone. Or: portable ramp equipment for infantry and Jäger battalions. The two-piece construction of the blade is secured with five strong fastening pins. The handle is made from ash wood, which is a strong material. On top of that, the handle is half enclosed in a steel sheath for extra strength. The reliability and usability of this shovel is why it was used in both world wars.

Like the historical model, the edges of the blade are pre-sharpened, but not razor-sharp. Therefore, when you receive the shovel, it is suitable for digging and splitting wood. If you want to use the shovel as a knife, we recommend sharpening the sides of the shovel yourself, using a sharpening stone. The blade is made of a tough and strong stainless steel that is also used for the blades of steam turbines and surgical tools. It has very good impact resistance and is easy to sharpen yourself. The shovel comes with a solid nylon sheath. This makes the Boker Plus M1874 an indispensable tool for all bushcrafters, off-road riders and military equipment collectors.

Als ich den Spaten gesehen habe, wollte ich ihn haben.  Er gefällt mir sehr gut, die Verarbeitung läßt keine Wünsche übrig. Der Vorteil ist, er ist NEU, der Nachteil ist, es ist kein Original, was natürlich auch seinen Preis hat, aber auch nicht mehr so gut ausschauen kann nach all den Jahren. Ich werde ihn nicht verwenden, er ist für mich ein Sammlerstück, da ich noch einige andere Spaten habe die ich benutze. Auch wollte ich das Gefühl für so einen Spaten in den Händen haben, denn nur so kann man erkennen, was ein Soldat im 1. Weltkrieg bekommen hatte.
