This **BeaverCraft Comfort Bird Carving Hobby Kit DIY01** is a set for the amateur wood carver. It contains everything you need to get started with wood carving. A versatile wood carving knife, basswood and cherry wood, strop and even instructions for a successful start!



A Comfort Bird is a smooth bird that is nice to hold in hand. Fun to carve! This set contains two blocks of wood: one basswood block and one cherry wood block. Start with the basswood block (the light-coloured block) for practice. Afterwards you use the cherry wood block (the dark-coloured block). A little more difficult to carve, but it does look amazing!

## About the wood carving knife


The blade is made from fine carbon steel. Easy to sharpen and very tough. As such it will bend sooner than it will break, in case something goes wrong. Better safe than sorry! Keep in mind that carbon steel is not stainless. So don't store it while still wet. A couple drops of oil once in a while will make sure the blade stays in great shape.



The handle is made from ash wood. A strong type of wood that is also used for axe handles. The ergonomics of all BeaverCraft tools is great. But the good thing about wood carving knives is that you can always modify the handle yourself. To make it your own!

Leuke set met duidelijk uitleg. En pleisters inbegrepen gelukkig ;-)

Supervolledig setje. Fijn dat er zowel een mes, strop als hout en zelfs tape om je vingers te beschermen bijzit.  De instructies voor het snijden van het vogeltje zijn mijn inziens wel vrij beperkt, zeker wat snij en slijptechniek voor de echte beginner betreft. Het hout is best hard en/of de messen niet erg heel scherp, of ik moet nog heel erg werken aan mijn houtsnijtechniek.
