What does DPx stand for?

DPx Gear is the brainchild of Robert Young Pelton: journalist, author and former war correspondent who earned his stripes in the most dangerous places on earth. He built that experience straight into his knives. HEST stands for Hostile Environment Survival Tool: gear that won't let you down when it matters.

Many DPx knives are made in Italy, and you can tell in every detail: tight tolerances, clever touches and a finish that's spot on. Think of the patented Rotoblock, an overload lock that holds your knife rock solid, and Micarta handles that keep their grip even when things get wet and cold.

HEST Original: the fixed-blade workhorse

The DPx HEST Original is a compact fixed-blade knife built to survive. It comes in three Cerakote finishes on tough D2 steel (black, grey and tan), each with a green Micarta handle. Prefer the very best? Then there's the version in stonewashed CPM MagnaCut, a modern super steel with exceptional edge retention and corrosion resistance.

HEST/F: the folder that made DPx big

The HEST/F is the folding classic where it all started. The DPHSF450 runs on tough Sleipner tool steel with a black aluminium handle; the DPHSF451 goes one step further with premium Böhler M390 steel and a sculpted aluminium handle.

Aculus: the refined flipper

New and surprisingly upscale: the Aculus. A sleekly designed flipper you can pick up with a titanium handle and CPM MagnaCut steel (grey, bronze or triple black), or with an aluminium handle and D2 steel (diamond black or diamond red). A true gentleman among hard-use knives.
