There are only two ways that really work well outdoors, and the difference is in what you have to carry.
With a french press, you throw coffee and hot water into the jug, push the plunger through and you are done. No filters, so nothing you can forget. The grit at the bottom comes with the territory.
A pour-over is a filter holder on your mug or tumbler or on a jug. Cleaner cup, but you need filters and you have to pour slowly.
Then look at capacity. One litre is enough for two coffee drinkers at a camping table, almost two litres is for a group. If you are going on your own, a pour-over on a tumbler is less to carry than a jug.
Cleaning does the rest: a french press has to come apart to get the grit out, a pour-over just needs a rinse.
