Today both batteries are very popular and with good reason. And yet there are clear differences between these two types of batteries. They namely differ in size and capacity. The 18650 is slightly smaller and, as such, has less capacity. This means that a light that uses a 21700 battery will burn longer and brighter. Because the 21700 batteries differ from 18650 batteries in terms of size they are not interchangeable. So carefully check beforehand if the battery will be the right 'fit'!
