Traditional, but environmentally-friendly

You can clearly see the tradition when you look at the design of the axes. The fact that Adler is a traditional company, however, does not mean they forgot to look ahead. They use environmentally-friendly water-based lacquer. Without harmful substances. Not only great for the environment, also for those working at Adler. Wood that is left-over after producing the axe handles is used to create briquettes. They use them to heat up the production hall, offices and drying room. And as sustainable padding material in the boxes. Great for use as tinder. Clever!

Over 100 years of Adler

Adler started in Wiesental in 1919. This means the company has been around over 100 years! Back then Josef Schmitt started a small forge in the village. He made a name for himself and was quickly known as 'Hammer-Schmitt'. He started by only producing axe heads and the heads of other tools, but soon also started adding his own handmade (axe)handles. The company became so big it had to move to Waghäusel, close to Wiesental. And the factory can still be found here. The tradition that Josef Schmitt started, Adler still continues today. But of course update to fit the twenty-first century!
