The **Gerber Prybrid Utility Solid State** is a versatile pocket knife. Characterizing about this knife is that the blade isn't the most important tool. As the name might already suggest it is the pry-bar at the end of the handle. You use this pry-bar for all tasks you wouldn't use your pocket knife. Think of opening a beer, stripping electrical wires, tightening a screw or even removing a nail. You should consider the knife to be a bonus.



But a great bonus! Because of the pointed tip it is perfect for the more detailed tasks. Or when opening a box. With the button the knife slides out. To make sure this doesn't accidentally happen in your pocket you do need to completely press this button. To slide the knife back in you press it down again.



Such a thin knife can easily break, right? Not really. Because it is thin it is also flexible. If it does break? Or if you want to exchange it for a new piece? You can easily replace it with a standard DIY knife. Also called a 'Stanley knife'. You can easily find replacement blades at your local hardware store.

Ce petit couteau est particulièrement pratique. Il respire la solidité. Le tire-clou ne fera pas de miracles sur les gros clous, mais il s’en tire plutôt bien sur des pointes à taille moyenne. L’indispensable décapsuleur fonctionne bien. La lame est facilement remplaçable, contrairement à ce que j’ai pu lire ici et là. Le clip de poche manque cruellement, défaut corrigé sur le nouveau modèle. 

Saw an offer on the prybrid so decided to buy one as I’d heard good things about them. The pry bar is definitely useful and hard enough steel to do the job. The knife seems well built too. The action of activating the blade is not as smooth as I’d hoped. I was surprised to learn Gerber is a US brand so hesitated to buy it but as it’s made in China I decided to give it a go. Overall I’m disappointed with the product but it is a decent enough tool for everyday use.
