I mainly collect fixed-blade knives and was very sceptical about the idea that a folding knife could replace a fixed blade. This one can. Of course, you have to leave out the most extreme DBK nonsense (which I also do with fixed blades), and then the PXL becomes a serious alternative: easy to carry, extremely sharp and edge-retentive, very secure in the hand and well balanced. The materials and finish are excellent, with the only criticism being that the clip is extremely tight. Well, that can be adjusted. The design of the handle and blade makes this knife a genuine alternative to, for example, the Casström Woodman or the Fällkniven F1. At this price, I recommend it not only as a supplementary knife, but also as a standalone knife for backpacking trips.

An absolute tank of an outdoor folder. I bought the PXLx as a heavy-duty hiking companion, and it is a masterpiece of rugged Scandinavian engineering. At ~133g with thick steel liners and zero handle flex, it feels as close to a fixed blade as a folder can get. The combination of premium Böhler Elmax powder steel and Fällkniven’s signature convex grind is phenomenal. The convex geometry keeps extra steel mass behind the apex, making the edge incredibly resilient against chipping or rolling during heavy woodwork. At this price point (~162,-€) the value is unbeatable - you get an elite, abuse-resistant PM tool steel for the price of a standard mid-tier folder.
