The **CRKT Squid XM Black 2495B Brown** is a larger version of the super popular CRKT Squid, designed by Lucas Burnley. The Squid collection is popular because of its functional and friendly design. In a short amount of time the CRKT Squid became one of the best starter knives ever. But also experienced knife enthusiasts often own a CRKT Squid.

But how much bigger is de Squid XM? The blade is 7.5 cm long. Approximately 2 cm longer than that of the standard Squid. As such this version is a little better suited for the more demanding cutting tasks. Despite its larger size the Squid XM still looks friendly with its droppoint style blade.

Like its smaller predecessor this knife can handle its own. The solid frame lock ensures the blade stays in place when opened. You can easily open this pocket knife with one hand, which is especially easy with the assisted opening mechanism, designed by Ken Onion. The assisted opening ensures that you can quickly open the knife with the flipper. This mechanism is namely enhanced with a spring that supports you when you open the knife. Because of the IKBS ball bearings it moves really well.

## G10 scale

G10 is a strong composite material made from glass fibre and epoxy resin, it offers excellent durability and a great grip. It is resistant to general wear and tear, warping and other tough conditions, making it ideal for outdoor and tactical knives.

## D2 steel for excellent sharpness retention

D2 steel is known for its exceptional toughness and wear resistance, making it perfect for knives and tools that need to retain their sharpness for a long time. However, this steel is not very corrosion resistant. This can be easily solved with a bit of oil, though!
