The name 'Knafs' may sound a little strange, but it's really just an alternative way of saying 'knives'. After all, if you pronounce this word slightly differently, you'll end up saying 'knifes'. Stick a southern accent on it and 'knifes' becomes 'knafs'. You might know Ben Petersen as the designer of the WE Knife Banter and Civivi Baby Banter. And now he also has his own brand; Knafs.

After a successful Kickstarter launch, [Knafs](kato://category/knafsbrand) introduces the Lander 4 Fixed Blade, the first fixed-blade knife in the Lander series. Founder **Ben Petersen** had one goal in mind: to design a compact and portable knife for [EDC (everyday carry)](kato://content/migrated_topic_497).

## The creation of the Lander 4 
The Lander 4 began with a question Ben asked himself: "What’s missing in the Lander series?'' The answer was a fixed-blade knife that is versatile, simple and user-friendly. After extensive experimentation with cardboard prototypes and 3D prints, the design team found the perfect balance between an ergonomic handle and a 6.6 cm blade.

In the meantime there have been some developments, and the timeline at the top of the poster could use an update as well. In a recent interview with Ben Petersen from [Knafs](kato://category/knafsbrand), also known as Ben Banters, Ben announced that he has been working on a fixed-blade version of the Famous [Civivi Baby Banter](kato://category/civivibabybanter). The Civivi Baby Banter is a smaller version of the first knife Ben designed, the WE Knife Banter. The massive success of both models earned him his famous nickname 'Ben Banters'.

If it ain’t Dutch, it ain’t much! The Knafs (Neder)Lander 4 Knivesandtools Exclusive is the result of a great collaboration between Knafs and Knivesandtools. This knife is a tribute to the Netherlands: with 3D-printed stroopwafel scales, a striking yellow clog bead and a solid dose of Dutch passion. All brought together in one of the coolest fixed EDC knives of the moment!

In our latest YouTube interview with Ben Petersen from KNAFS, we dove into the world of knives, community and hands-on production. Just back from Blade Show in Atlanta, Ben shared his excitement about the growing momentum in the knife community and the support of his loyal 'Moon Crew' fans.

One of the main highlights was the introduction of KNAFS’ own CNC-milled knife, the Little Lulu, expected to arrive at Knivesandtools later this autumn. A knife without jimping? “We don’t know how to do that yet,” Ben joked, while stressing how valuable the learning process is now they’re bringing more production in-house.

We also got a sneak peek of the Swanky Sendy, a premium version of the Sendy model with a nautical twist – and a name as quirky as Ben himself. He also confirmed that a slipjoint is in the works, designed to meet European regulations: a non-locking, one-handed opener. Expect something special, with both brass and micarta versions in the pipeline.

Another standout moment? The Lander 6 – a surprisingly sturdy keychain knife made in Taiwan, purpose-built with younger knife enthusiasts in mind. And as if that’s not enough, Ben teased a playful new collaboration with Knivesandtools featuring a typical Dutch touch: think “food-themed scales” on a Lander.

Beyond the product updates, Ben also shared his thoughts on the differences between American and European knife fans. Spoiler: he’s a big fan of the relaxed and courteous Dutch vibe. His goal? For the community to keep growing independently of him. “I want to be the facilitator, not the ringleader.”

An open-hearted and energetic conversation, just as we’ve come to expect from Ben. And with **Have a Knives Day** around the corner, there’s plenty to look forward to.
