## SHIPPING AND SHIPPING COSTS

We keep stock at KATO Group's local warehouse in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. Every product has a stock label indicating if a product is in stock and ready for shipment or not. Orders will be shipped with DHL and GLS (who hand our parcels over to local mail carriers). 

## PRICES AND VAT

Prices listed on our website include VAT. Depending on the destination of the parcel the VAT will be deducted in the checkout. The same applies when ordering as a company with a valid VAT number.

## RETURNS AND REFUNDS

### 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

We guarantee your satisfaction with all knivesandtools merchandise. You can always cancel your order at any time for a full refund within 30 days of delivery in accordance with your rights under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000.

In order to return goods please always contact us first at info@knivesandtools.com so we can send you the packing and shipping instructions. We will always refund you the same way you paid us (ie credit card or wire transfer). You will receive the refund within 14 days after we received the return shipment.

If there is any damage to the product as a result of use that does not include determining the functionality of the goods, we reserve the right to charge depreciation. 

It is not possible to exchange your item for another item by returning it. Instead, we will give you a refund and you can then place another order on our website. 

### Damaged or defective items

If you receive a damaged or defective item, we will promptly send you a replacement or issue you a full refund after you have returned the damaged or defective product. You will not be charged any additional shipping or handling fees for replacement shipments.

### Guarantee

All items on our website come with at least a 2-year warranty, even though the manufacturer limits this warranty to 1 year. We say minimum because there are several brands with a longer warranty period. (e.g. Fenix, Eden).

## 1. Placing an order

All orders are placed online either via our website [www.knivesandtools.co.uk](http://www.knivesandtools.co.uk), or when contacting our customer service department via phone.

## 2. Shipping and Delivery time

Our warehouse is located in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. All products are shipped from this location. Every product listed on the website has a stock label indicating if a product is in stock and ready for shipment or not. Orders to the United Kingdom are shipped with UPS and normally take 3-5 business days to arrive.

## 3. Prices and VAT

Prices listed on the website are in British pounds and include VAT, fees and charges. Customers from the Channel Islands, with the exception of Jersey and Guernsey, do not pay VAT at knivesandtools.co.uk, but will have to pay local VAT upon delivery.

## 4. 18+

All tools listed on knivesandtools.co.uk enhanced with an 18+ logo are only sold to people aged 18 or over. By placing an order and accepting our terms & conditions you declare that you are at least 18 years of age. We may ask you to provide us with proof of identification before we ship your order.

All orders containing products that are labeled 18+ will be shipped with a mandatory identification/age check upon delivery and require an adult signature.

If you are unable to offer sufficient proof that you, as recipient and creator of the order, are at least 18 years of age or older, UPS will take the package and return it to Knivesandtools in the Netherlands. If you are not at home during the initial delivery attempt, UPS will try again later or send the parcel to a pick-up point. In either case, you must be able to identify yourself and prove you are at least 18 years of age or older. If you are unable to do so your parcel will be returned to Knivesandtools. Please note that we may charge you, the customer, for any expenses made during the return process.

## 5. Returns and Refunds

We want to make sure that the products you've ordered live up to your expectations. If, for any reason, you are not satisfied, you can return your order for a full refund* within 30 days of delivery, in accordance with your rights under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000.

*Please note: we may ask for compensation if a product you return can no longer be sold as a new product because it has been used or is damaged.

### Damaged or defective items

In 2015, Chris Reeve launched the small Inkosi and the large Inkosi. This brand commonly chooses names that refer to South African cultural or ethnic elements. 'Inkosi' means 'Chief', as in 'leader'. This is a fitting name because Chris Reeve Knives is a market leader, and this brand is known for their high-quality knives.

## Chris Reeve Mnandi knives: features 

The unparalleled quality of Chris Reeve knives is evident in the Mnandi. The Chris Reeve Mnandi is a beautifully designed gentleman's pocket knife made from premium materials. It is a knife for life, which will be passed on for many generations. In Zulu, 'Mnandi' means 'very nice'. It's a suitable name and the perfect description for such a gentleman's knife. It doesn't get more stylish than the Chris Reeve Mnandi. 

 

### The Chris Reeve Mnandi: the blade 

The blade is made from CPM S45VN steel, an American steel that made its debut in the Mnandi in 2021. Compared to S35VN, S45VN is slightly better when it comes to sharpness retention, and it is also easier to sharpen. 

 

With a little practice, the Mnandi can be opened one-handed with the help of the cut-out in the blade. At first, though, it's probably best to open the knife with two hands. When opened, the blade is locked in place by a frame lock. Even though this small folding knife may look a little austere, the quality of the materials used, and the finish are absolutely exceptional. 

 

### The Chris Reeve Mnandi: the handle 

 Functionality and quality go hand in hand with this stunning design. The titanium handle is especially striking. Every Mnandi features an exclusive inlay. To make sure you don't see the head of the screw, Chris Reeve has made the clip into the screw. A bushing turns around the screw protruding from the clip from the other side of the handle. Lansky systems consist of a blade holder, guide bar and sharpening wheels with different grit sizes, ranging from coarse to ultrafine. In addition, strops are also available. The sharpening stones are often made of aluminium oxide, ceramic or diamond, depending on the series. ## History of Tatonka

## New Spartan Blades knives for 2020


In 2020 there are immediately three new releases in the Silver Class - Professional Grade. The knives released are called the [Spartan Alala](kato://product/USSBSL004BKBK), [Spartan Damysus](kato://product/USSBSL003BKBK) and [Spartan Machai](kato://product/USSBSL002BKBK). Three decent fixed knives made from 1095 Cro Van carbon steel and a handle made from canvas micarta. You can clearly see that Spartan Blades designer Curtis Iovito left his mark on these knives. KA-BAR can be recognized by  the type of steel used and the finish. The sheaths are made from plastic instead of kydex, but still have the appreciated Spartan carrying options. With prices between 169 and 219 euros these knives are not that cheap, but also not as expensive as the knives from the Gold Class.

With the release of amazing new models such as the [ZT0230](kato://product/ZT0230) and the [ZT0233](kato://product/ZT0223), as shown in the video, Zero Tolerance decided to take it a little slower at the start of 2020. The knives they released, however, are 100% Zero Tolerance! The new 0308 is tough, robust and enhanced with premium materials such as CPM 20CV steel and titanium. With a blade length of 9.5 cm the 0308 cannot be called a small knife. The 0308 is a work horse. Made for people who want to use their knife for the more demanding jobs and never want to worry about the blade breaking during use. The G10 and the titanium of the handle are both enhanced with a rough geometric pattern. This doesn't only look amazing, it also ensures that you have a lot more grip. An artistic cut-out around the pivot finishes the whole.

Fenix introduces a new EDC flashlight with a couple of tactical functions: [the LD30](kato://product/FELD30). This flashlight has a massive power of no less than 1600 lumens. The size is perfect: 10.9 cm long. Perfect to easily let it slip in your pocket or to wear it comfortably on your belt with the included pocket clip. Once you try it you can't go back. This is the perfect EDC flashlight.


The back of the Fenix LD30 is enhanced with a tactical switch you can use to turn the flashlight on and off. If the light is turned on you can use the side switch to switch between the different light modes. The flashlight has five different light modes: Eco, Low, Med, High and Turbo. The LD30 also has a Strobe and SOS mode. As such you will always have the right amount of light with a maximum beam distance of 205 meters, no matter the circumstances. The flashlight also adheres to the IP68 norm. This means that the light is waterproof up to 2 meters and can also handle dust.


## Charging the Fenix LD30

New: Fenix LD30 - the perfect EDC flashlight 

A convex grind is difficult to produce in large numbers. For that reason you hardly ever come across it on production knives. And yet [Fällkniven](kato://content/migrated_pageid_321) has successfully done so for over 20 years. Quite the achievement.


If you carry out more detailed work with a knife with a convex edge you will immediately notice the difference. Take, for instance, feather sticks. You will notice that you can cut the curls more evenly.


There are, of course, also 'downsides' to the convex grind. Some people find it a lot harder to sharpen. After all, you sharpen a 'convex' edge, and not a flat v-edge. The solution is stropping. In doing so you keep the convex grind sharp, without having to sharpen it too often. If the knife has become dull, you can use sharpening stones to sharpen a great convex grind, or you can use a sharpener such as the [Work Sharp Ken Onion edition](kato://product/WSKTS-IKO-UK), which naturally leaves you with a convex edge.


## Where are Fällkniven knives made?


In contrast to what people might think, Fällkniven knives are made in Japan. For years Fällkniven has been doing business there with the best knife makers the city has ever known. The fixed knives are produced by Hattori. Here, they apply the convex grinds by hand. The folding knives are made by Moki, a very prominent party when it comes to stunning gentleman's knives.


## Difference Fällkniven F1 and F1 Pro


For years the conventional Fällkniven F1 was the standard. And today it is still one of the best and most popular outdoor knives on the market. Fällkniven, however, decided in 2015/2016, twenty years after the original release of the F1, that it was time to produce a modified version of the F1: the Pro collection.


The most important differences between the two are the type of steel, the guard, the size of the handle and the scope of delivery.


### CoS vs VG10


One of the main differences is the type of steel. The F1 is made from laminated CoS steel, and the F1 Pro is made from laminated Elmax steel. Let's start with lamination: this means that there is a core of good and hard knife steel, laminated in between two layers of softer stainless steel. As such the blade is stronger and tougher, while the edge is still very hard.


Originally, the F1 was made from VG10 steel and the F1 Pro was made from CoS steel. VG10 is stainless and easy to sharpen. It retains its sharpness well and can definitely handle its own. A great type of steel for an all-round outdoor knife. But Fällkniven felt they could do better.


For that reason they started testing CoS-cobalt steel for a couple of years. Still stainless and relatively easy to sharpen, but CoS will retain its sharpness even longer and can definitely handle its own. On a chemical level VG10 and CoS are not that different. However, we suspect that CoS has a finer grain structure. Just like the difference between a 'normal' type of steel and a powdered type of steel. As such it will retain its sharpness longer and can handle a lot more.

Meanwhile, Fällkniven has continued using CoS steel in the production of the F1 and the steel of the F1 Pro has been upgraded to Elmax steel. Böhler Elmax is a fine and tough steel from Austria. Elmax stays sharp for a really long time but is also easy to sharpen yourself. Elmax is also very corrosion resistant.

Not only the type of steel is different about the F1 Pro. The thickness of the blade and the included grind are also different. The Fällkniven F1 has a 4.3 mm thick blade. The F1 Pro has a 4.9 mm thick blade. As such it feels a little more robust. Because of the lower grind the knife also has more 'spine' left to absorb the heavy loads. The F1 Pro is better suited to handle more serious cutting work.

## When is the Sebenza 31 available


Chris Reeve Knives is expected to deliver the new Sebenza 31 early 2020. In the meantime we have many other Sebenza 21's in stock, and we are still waiting for other new models. Initially the Sebenza 31 will only be available as a droppoint knife. We will have to wait a little longer for Chris Reeve Knives to introduce the tanto and insingo. Fortunately these blade shapes remain available on the 21. We expect that as soon as all blade shapes are available for the 31 the 21 will no longer be produced, but that is still not entirely clear.

### How to sharpen with the system

There are two ways to sharpen with the Lansky system:

* Place the knife in a vice
* Hold the clamp in your hand

| Placement of the knife | Placement is a bit difficult when you want to work keeping it in your hand. The knife also gives a little when being held in a clamp. |
| Quickest sharpening system | For each side of the blade it took us about 10-15 minutes. In just about half an hour we were able to sharpen the knife. Because the knife is placed sideways it is easy to slip out with the sharpening stones. |
| Results | A very sharp knife. It easily withstood the paper test. With even finer guide rods the knife will probably become razor sharp. |

In 2025, Doble O Knives introduced the Ronin 2.1, a refined version of the Ronin 2.0 from 2024. Designed by Ovidio Calvet, in collaboration with Pablo Movilla, the 2.1 builds upon the signature modified tanto blade with three functional cutting edges: a hollow grind for precision work, a flat grind for powerful chopping and push cuts, and a false edge for improved penetration. The new version offers enhancements in steel type, coatings, markings, ergonomics, and carrying comfort. A striking addition is the luxurious leather sheath with multi-clip, featuring an integrated Kydex ring for accessories such as a firesteel or compact flashlight (1.4 cm opening). Inside, there is an extra Kydex liner that prevents rust formation and ensures firm knife retention without compromising the classic look of leather.

## About the original GiantMouse ACE Farley
The GiantMouse ACE Farley is a slim and compact slipjoint pocket knife, designed by renowned knife makers Jens Ansø and Jesper Voxnaes. Paying homage to the long history of slipjoint pocket knives, this knife combines traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary Danish design, clearly displaying the distinctive style elements of Ansø and Voxnaes.

The Farley's design was inspired by concept cars from the 1960s. When you place the knife next to a picture of one of these iconic cars, the similarities are immediately apparent: the sleek, aerodynamic lines, the smooth ergonomic shapes and even the screws, reminiscent of the positioning of hubcaps. As with these cars, every detail has been carefully thought through, giving the Farley a perfectly balanced design.
