The knife industry loves acronyms, and one frequently seen is the term FRN.  

It means 'Fibreglass Reinforced Nylon', which is a plastic material used in manufacturing knife handles, because it’s lightweight, long wearing and not prohibitively expensive.  

One of the Byrd line’s cornerstone models, the Meadowlark is available for the first time with FRN handles.  

The FRN Meadowlark has slip-free texture, deeply moulded into the plastic so it won’t slide or move around in the hand.  

Nested inside the handle are full-length steel liners, adding rigidity and strength without unnecessary weight, and also phosphor bronze bushing for smooth open/close action.  

The 8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade is hollow-ground with a comet shaped hole, so the folder opens and closes one-handedly.  

On top of the blade’s spine is a series of crosshatchings the knife industry calls jimping.  
 Jimping creates tactile resistance, gripping the thumb and keeping it in contact with the top of the blade while cutting.  

Features a 4-way pocket clip for left or right-handed, tip-up or tip-down carry.  

The cut-out of the lock’s release is a safety feature called a David Boye Dent, allowing you to tightly grip the handle without fear of accidentally releasing the lock.  
  

Version 2 has an improved handle and the blade moves more smoothly.

Wanted to get on the much talked about spyderco ladder to see if all the hype is true, so started with this one at the lower end of the price range, seems good for the money very sharp well built so worth a try if you want a decent knife for a fair price.

Un couteau dans la pure tradition spyderco. Solide, fonctionnel et ultra léger. Pour ma part mon couteau de poche préféré.

Nou het was een cadeautje voor mijn vriendon, ze vind het het het mooiste wat er is.
Natuurlijk heeft ze geen verstand van dat soort dingen maar ik heb er ook even mee zitten spelen, en heb hem geslepen (hij kwam al wel mooi scherp aan), het is lastig te verslaan voor de prijs.
Prima kwaliteit, voor een prima prijs.
Als je opzoek bent naar een goed budget EDC mes, is dit een echte aanrader!


Goed alternatief voor de delica, als je een beetje op de prijs wil letten.
Maar je merkt wel duidelijk het prijsverschil in afwerking en gebruikte materialen.
Ik moet wel toegeven dat deze door zijn goedkopere prijs vlugger gebruikt wordt dan m'n delica en na meer dan een jaar gebruik zijn er nog geen problemen mee
