This **Hultafors Åby Premium felling axe** is a great when felling trees or for other chopping tasks in the garden or woods. The not-too-heavy axe head, combined with the slimmer handle, gives this axe the perfect balance for bushcraft purposes. This axe is enhanced with a straight cutting axe and a cut-out for your fingers just underneath the axe head for more precision. The long handle adds extra strength with every stroke. The edge is razor-sharp to make sure you can even use it to cut with. It comes with a nice leather sheath, to protect the sharp edge.

## Hultafors axe head

The axe head is forged from Swedish axe steel. The edge is hardened to make sure it is strong enough to stay sharp without breaking, but can also be sharpened. Basically everything you like to see in an axe head. The Hultafors axes are reliable and will last a lifetime. That is why Hultafors gives a lifetime warranty on the axe head of all Premium axes.

## Hultafors axe handles

Hultafors uses American hickory wood for the handles. This type of wood is exceptional in absorbing blows without breaking. As such it is perfect as a handle for hammers and, of course, axes.

## Characteristics of Hultafors Premium axes

The axe heads used for the Hultafors Premium collection are forged in the same way as the heads used for the Agdor axes. The remarkable aspect of the Premium collection, however, is that they are mostly made by hand. After forging the axes are namely finished on belt sanders by skilled craftsman. First the geometry of the head is refined. Afterwards the heads are hardened and tempered to 55 HRC. 

After that a Premium axe is sharpened. By hand! Until every edge will shine like a mirror. Finally the head is enhanced with a handle and a premium sheath.

Een klein ogende en aanvoelend bijltje (heeft ook z'n voordelen), maar wat een impact, zowel voor 't kleine werk (vlijmscherpe snede voor feathersticks en schaafwerk) als voor 't vel- en kliefwerk (dat laatste niet verwacht). Evident niet het impact van een zwaardere bijl, maar hij ligt geweldig in de hand en bijt diep in 't hout. Als ie zich goed laat slijpen en zijn snede behoudt, zie ik dit nog mijn lievelingsbijl worden.

Sehr schön gearbeitete Axt. Mein Mann hat sich sehr über sein Geburtstagsgeschenk gefreut, hat die Axt bislang jedoch nur einmal benutzt. Das hat ihn allerdings so sehr überzeugt, dass er die Axt im ganzen Freundeskreis empfiehlt😅

Habe mich durch die vielen positiven Rezensionen zum Kauf entschieden. Leider kam meine Axt  wie gebraucht daher... Der Stiel ist nicht schön verarbeitet, hier und da Dellen im Holz und unsauber geschliffen. 
Der Axtkopf ist auch nicht sauber geschliffen, da erwartet man bei dem vielen Premium-Hype und dem Preis auch entsprechende Qualität.
What else, sie bekommt von mir eine schönes Service und Pflege, dann passt es hoffentlich.
