After doing my research beforehand, I hesitated for a long time before buying this version of the Stretch 2 XL because of some known fit-and-finish and tolerance issues. I’m very glad I bought it in the end. The entire back construction, with the liners and back lock, feels like one seamless piece. There are no unintended gaps, everything fits together smoothly, and there are no annoying transitions at all. I can’t stop looking at the back of the knife; everything is so flush and well matched. The edges of the G10 are very pleasantly rounded. On top of that, it is flatter than the Stretch 2, which gives it a slim, high-quality feel and makes it carry brilliantly, especially considering its size. The ergonomic comfort is extremely good. There is no horizontal blade play and the blade runs very smoothly. The only thing to be aware of is the construction-related vertical blade play. But that only appears under very heavy vertical load or when lifting at the tip of the blade, and it is so slight as to be barely noticeable; it does not affect the sturdy construction. It doesn’t bother me. The best back lock I’ve had from Japan so far. Even the edge is ground quite evenly by Seki standards. The blade sits centred. I’m very positively surprised compared with what I found in my research. You really have to hold it in your hand; photos don’t do the knife justice.
