The **Spyderco Byrd Meadowlark 2 Wharncliffe** is a practical pocket knife for everyday use. Instead of the classic blade shape, this blade is a Wharncliffe. This is a variant of the sheepsfoot, but with a straight edge. This version has a serrated edge. Perfect for opening boxes.

The 7.5 cm 8cr13MoV steel blade can easily be opened with the comet-shaped hole. When opened the blade is locked by a solid and reliable back lock. As an extra safety precaution this back lock has been enhanced with a so-called Boye-dent; a crescent-shaped cut-out that makes sure the knife won't close during heavy-duty use.

This knife weighs next to nothing thanks to the FRN handle. FRN is a strong, light-weight material that provides plenty of grip. The compact dimensions make this pocket knife look friendly and graceful. The knife is enhanced with a reliable pocket clip that can be attached to the handle in four different ways. As such the user can decide to go with 'tip-up' or 'tip-down' carry and left and right-handed use. 

Spyderco introduced the Byrd collection as a more affordable alternative for the famous, but often more expensive Spyderco knives. Byrd knives are made in China. Of course, they adhere to Spyderco's strict quality demands and they are made from great materials.

Ik heb dit mesje gekocht omdat ik een mes zocht dat snel en makkelijk dikke vezels en touw kon snijden. Al snel kwam ik uit bij dit in China gefabriceerde mes van Spyderco. Laat je daar niet door verleiden, want het mes heeft een hoge kwaliteit zoals je van Spyderco gewend bent. Het staal waarvan het mes gemaakt is verrast ook. Het 8Cr13MoV is uitermate goed geschikt om er een gekarteld mes mee te maken. Na enkele dagen intensief gebruik was het nog steeds goed in staat om te snijden, mede door de karteling. Om het mes weer op volle scherpte te krijgen gebruikte ik de Spyderco Sharpmaker. Vier maal de karteling en één maal de vlakke kant langs de keramische staaf halen en het mes was weer top scherp. En dan bedoel ik echt heel scherp. Na één maal de snede aanraken had ik een sneetje in m’n duim. Voor dit geld krijg je een mesje van Spyderco kwaliteit, dus dat zit wel snor.
