### French T12 steel

The blade of this Nontron knife is made from French T12 steel. Forged in the Forge de Laguiole workshop. This steel is stainless. Perfect for food prep during a picnic to cutting a steak in a fancy restaurant. You traditionally open the blade with two handes. 

### Slipjoint lock

When opened the blade is locked by a solid slipjoint. It offers resistance, but doesn't completely block. As such you can legally carry it in many places in the world. 

### Barrel oak handle

The handle is made from remarkable oak wood. It is namely taken from wine barrels from Château Poulvère. Throughout the years this wood got its stunning, dark colour. 

## Nontron pocket knives: revival of the oldest French pocket knife

Ever since the 16th century, Coutellerie Nontronnaise has been producing pocket knives in the French village of Nontron. As such Nontron is the oldest, still existing knife brand in France. Like before, these knives are still produced by hand. Characterizing for a Nontron knife is the reversed V-symbol. Burned in the wooden handle with the help of pyrography. The reversed V is an old and mysterious symbol of which the origin is unknown. Regardless of its historical significance, the charm of a Nontron knife is absolutely timeless!
