The **Böker Manufaktur Damascus Curly Birch 140610DAM** is a top-quality straight razor. Böker has been producing straight razors for over a hundred years and has an excellent reputation in this field. This *straight razor* is made in the Böker workshop in Solingen, Germany.


This straight razor has an *extra hollow* grind with a *ridge*. The extra hollow grind gives you an extremely thin edge which is also a little flexible. This razor is amazing to work with but perhaps not as suited for heavy beard growth. The *ridge* ensures that the spine of the blade is thick enough to be blocked by the handle. In addition, the spine provides support when determining the right sharpening angle while stropping and sharpening.



This razor is enhanced with a French tip and the tang behind the edge is enhanced with grip serrations. The handle is made from stunning 'Curly Birch' wood. This is a natural material, making each knife unique.


## Swedish stainless damascus steel


For this special edition straight razor Böker used stainless Swedish damascus steel. This damascus steel is enhanced with a twist-pattern. This luxurious material, in combination with the horn of the handle, makes the knife look really chic.

De eerste indrukken zijn ronduit indrukwekkend. Op de afbeelding lijkt het een tamelijk klein scheermes, maar schijn bedriegt. Het is werkelijk een beest, in de goede zin van het woord. Ik heb grote handen en dit mes is prima vast te houden. Het blad is zwaar, veel zwaarder dan bijvoorbeeld de standaard 5/8" messen. Echter, ik vind dit zelf prettiger omdat je daardoor een betere scheerbeweging kunt maken. Het mes is niet alleen een lust voor het oog voor wat betreft het Damascus-blad, maar ook de handgreep is indrukwekkend. Eindelijk heb je een goede houvast en grip. Let op dat je wel een etui koopt waar dit mes in past. De standaard meegeleverde verpakking doet eerlijk gezegd afbreuk aan de levering en presentatie. Betaal een paar tientjes meer en je hebt een veilige en goede opbergmogelijkheid. Afwachten hoe het mes zich houdt op de langere termijn. Het blijft een enorme aanschaf, maar het voelt kwalitatief heel veel beter aan dan de messen tot 200 euro. En het scheert prettiger.
