The **Böker Manufaktur Bicycle Race, Black Synthetic 140223** is a top-quality straight razor. The blade height is only 5/8"". Böker has been producing straight razors for over a hundred years and has an excellent reputation in this field. This straight razor is made in the Böker workshop in Solingen, Germany.

This razor is an homage to the cycling matches that were hosted long before the Tour de France was introduced. The heroes of yore tortured themselves on two wheels over rough cobblestones, dusty gravel roads and sometimes short and torturous climbs. A steel free, cotton sweatshirt, casque, only one gear and a heroic moustache. It was the common gear for one of these ruthless one-day contests. These contests emerged in Belgium and France around 1900 and brought fame and honour to the winners. With this razor Böker brings back a piece of history. This razor is inspired by razors from 1900. The blade is enhanced with an engraving of a picturesque landscape with cyclists. The engraving on the blade remains true to the razors from the past. Just like the classic H. Boker & Co logo on the tang of the blade.

This straight razor has a hollow grind with a ridge. The hollow grind gives you an extremely thin edge which is also a little flexible. This razor is amazing to work with but perhaps not as suited for heavy beard growth. The ridge ensures that the spine of the blade is thick enough to be blocked by the handle. In addition, the spine provides support when determining the right sharpening angle while stropping and sharpening.

The handle is made from a black synthetic material and looks very fancy. This material is also easy to clean. The pins are made from nickel silver.

## Solingen 1.2210 carbon steel

Böker used carbon steel for this straight razor. Although the technical number 1.2210 might not mean that much to most, the term Solingen has an excellent reputation worldwide. You could even say that a part of Solingen's reputation as a knife city is the result of the excellent steel quality. After sharpening it is razor-sharp which leaves you with even softer and more comfortable results.

Gives a great shave and I keep it sharp with paddle stop  as wide as the blade that bought from another vendor. Being a keen cyclist- Penny-Farrhings- the etching on the blade was icing on the cake.
